Youth Alive Zimbabwe believes that young people particularly young women and girls are agents of change who deserve meaningful opportunities to lead, participate, and thrive economically. We increase youth participation in decision-making processes by creating platforms where young voices are heard and valued in matters affecting their communities and futures. From programme design to policy advocacy, we ensure young people are not passive beneficiaries but active leaders shaping the decisions that impact their lives. This participation builds their confidence, develops their leadership skills, and ensures that solutions are grounded in the realities young people face. Gender equality is central to our work. We recognize that young women and girls often face systemic barriers to participation, education, and economic opportunities. Through targeted empowerment initiatives, we challenge harmful gender norms that perpetuate violence against women, promote women’s social inclusion, and improve their confidence, voice, and agency. Economic empowerment is essential for independence and dignity. We enhance livelihood opportunities for youth and women through skills training, entrepreneurship support, and access to economic resources. Our women empowerment intervention utilizes the SASA! Faith methodology, which mobilizes faith communities to challenge harmful social norms that promote violence against women and HIV, while promoting women’s meaningful participation in leadership in both formal and informal spaces. At Youth Alive Zimbabwe, youth and gender empowerment is fundamental to breaking cycles of vulnerability and building a Zimbabwe where every young person can participate, lead, and prosper.
