Youth Alive Zimbabwe recognizes that climate change poses an unprecedented threat to child protection, survival, and development. Young people and communities on the front lines of climate impacts need support to adapt, respond, and build resilience for the future. We enhance the capacity of young people and communities to adapt to climate change by building knowledge and skills that help them understand climate risks and develop practical solutions. We provide training in climate-smart agriculture, water conservation, and resource management, enabling communities to protect their livelihoods as weather patterns shift. Importantly, we position young people as climate leaders and innovators, supporting youth-led initiatives that address climate challenges in their own communities. When young people understand climate science and have agency in adaptation efforts, they become powerful advocates for change. We strengthen emergency response and preparedness by helping communities anticipate and plan for climate-related disasters before they strike. Through disaster risk reduction training, early warning systems, and community based contingency planning, we build resilience so that when floods, droughts, or other climate emergencies occur, communities can respond quickly and protect the most vulnerable especially children. We also ensure that humanitarian assistance reaches those affected by climate crises, with particular focus on child protection and survival needs. We promote environmentally sustainable practices and climate change mitigation by encouraging communities to adopt practices that reduce environmental damage and carbon emissions. From tree planting to renewable energy advocacy to waste management, we demonstrate that protecting the environment and protecting children are interconnected goals. At Youth Alive Zimbabwe, climate action is child protection. By building adaptive capacity today, we safeguard the futures of young people and ensure a habitable, thriving Zimbabwe for generations to come.
