WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

Youth Alive Zimbabwe believes that young people, particularly young women and girls, are agents of change who deserve meaningful opportunities to participate, lead and thrive. Recognising the systemic barriers that limit women’s and girls’ participation, education and economic opportunities, we implement targeted empowerment initiatives that challenge harmful social norms, promote social inclusion and strengthen women’s confidence, voice and agency.

Through the SASA! Faith methodology, YAZIM engages different circles of influence including individuals, families, communities and institutions to foster reflection, dialogue and collective action towards more equitable relationships and communities. By working across these different levels, we address the underlying causes of Gender Based Violence and inequality while contributing to safer and more supportive environments where women and girls can participate meaningfully.

We recognise that sustainable change requires both social and economic empowerment. Alongside our work to transfor

m harmful social norms and behaviours, YAZIM strengthens women’s economic empowerment through livelihoods strengthening, skills development and improved access to productive resources. These efforts enhance women’s resilience, independence and dignity, while enabling them to exercise greater control over decisions that affect their lives, families and futures. Ultimately, our work contributes to healthier families, safer communities and a more inclusive society where women and girls can reach their full potential.
